Keyboards usually come with a single problem, their cords that become wrapped up in between the rest of them, which is why cordless keyboards are making a popular entry into the computer peripherals race. A cordless keyboard, also called wireless keyboards, work using a USB receiver, which plugs into any standard USB port. The receiver then captures a signal from the keyboard, thus allowing the user to type normally.

HP Wireless Elite

HP is a great manufacturer of computers and computer peripherals, so it comes as no surprise that their cordless keyboard is another great quality peripheral. The HP Wireless Elite Keyboard, while it may be a general function keyboard offering less features than some would like, does in fact live up to the HP name. It has a slim profile and does not take up too much space on a desktop as compared to other models. However, the keys are slimmer as well, so it may take some time to get used to the way they type. The USB receiver/adapter offers a range of up to 32 feet and users can sue the programmable media keys to link into Windows Media and iTunes. The keys register with only a slight touch and it is quite as well. Available for under $25 in most outlets, the HP Wireless Elite is great for general use.

Logitech Wave Pro Cordless

Logitech is known for its excellent performing peripherals and the company manufacturers some of the best gaming keyboards available. The Desktop Wave Pro is another shining example of what Logitech does best, they managed to make a comfortable keyboard design while keeping functionality at a maximum. This keyboard features customizable buttons and a keyboard design different from the others they manufacture; however, it is simple to get used to using. Additionally, the keyboard offers an ergonomic design, making the keys angle in a way that the wrists will position in a gentle way, which makes it less painful for heavy users. While this keyboard uses the standard USB receiver/adapter for its wireless aspect, it has a range of about 20 feet and is available from most retailers at about $80.

diNovo Media Desktop

This keyboard comes in two parts, a keyboard and an extra mini keyboard that controls the media functions in addition to a mouse. This is by far one of the better cordless keyboards around and at a price of $250, some may think twice about purchasing it. However, the features offered by the diNovo Media keyboard are amazing. It includes Bluetooth capability of which comes with an installation CD that is easy, but time consuming to install. However, the reward for doing so is that users can send text messages and emails right to other Bluetooth compatible devices in addition to having a direct line to cell phones and Smartphone’s.

The Media board allows the numeric keypad functions and is a remote control device that allows the user to control any Media Player functions, video and imaging functions on the user’s computer. Additionally, the mouse is an optical of which is rechargeable, using the Bluetooth Hub as its cradle. The keyboard comes with other basic functions, such as programmable “F” keys and an LCD display for viewing system information in addition to the fate and time. This cordless keyboard is available from a variety of retailers at about $200 to $260.

Best Overall Cordless Keyboard

Considering the amazing functionality of the diNovo Media Desktop cordless keyboard, it would certainly win out above the others. However, for general purpose and a decent price, for those who would prefer simplicity over thousands of functions, the HP Wireless elite is the way to go. The Logitech is the overall winner here, though with its marriage of features, usability and comfortable design, at a mid rage price that makes everyone happy.
